ASSE International Student Exchange Programs
ASSE was established in 1976 as the American Scandinavian Student Exchange by the Swedish Government to organize student exchange programs between Sweden and the United States. Over the years ASSE has expanded. ASSE now maintains 38 offices in 31 countries and accommodates more than 30,000 high school age students and host families annually in its programs in the participating countries.
High School Academic Year Program that start in summer – as of 2/20/09
ASSE offers a 10% discount on program fees (not on the $100 application fee) for applications submitted by January 15th. The following fees included the 10% discount:
Mexico $4,420
Fees with no discount: Program fees
include: Round trip international airfare from New York to Europe and South
Africa, from Miami to Brazil and Argentina, from Los Angeles to Asia/Pacific.
Year programs between USA, Canada, and Mexico exclude airfare. Fees also include:
Comprehensive health, accidental death and travel insurance, family recruitment
and screening, supervision, non-English speaking country language training and
orientation

Program fees exclude: Domestic travel from
home to international gateway city, passport and visa fees, school uniforms (if
required), educational/recreational overnight field trips, school lunch money
(if necessary) and pocket money.
I wish I could have done an exchange program in high school. I missed out!
