For two hours yesterday I attend the negotiating session between Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teachers. They are in their very early stages of negotiations, still clarifying each others initial proposals. For most of my time there, I listened to the PPS spokesperson asking questions of the PAT spokesperson, who often gave rambling, off topic answers (I was told by another public bystanders that this was probably just a negotiating technique).
I was there both to get a feel for early negotiations and to see if any of the issues I care about the most will be affected. I could find nothing in either proposal relating to immersion programs, high school study abroad, or online education.
