Thomas Barnett brief, Part 1 of 3

Dr. Thomas P.M. Barnett is a national security expert and strategic planner who is well known around the defense community. At the 5 minute 30 second mark, he says "What could derail globalization? On one side of the table, Wall Street CEO's saying China - the future of integration, future of investment, future of production, future of profit. On the other side of the table sat the admirals and generals from the Pentagon. They said China - danger, threat, military aggression, war. So the Pentagon map and the Wall Street map overlapped precipitiously on China. That gets wiped off the map with 9/11. China is a hugh historical beneficiary of that process because they become our new friend. We stop fixating on them because we have someone else to worry about."

At the very end (about 9:45), Barnett says "China is still ruled by the Communist Party whose ideological mix is about 30% Marxist-Leninist and about 70% the sopranos."
