Note two basics of the Utah approach to expanding foreign language immersion programs:
(1) They see having a multilingual workforce as a competitive economic advantage in the global economy. They are so right!
(2) They recognize that there is no educational down side to foreign language immersion programs. Immersion students do as well or better on all the English language standardized tests.
Non-immersion educational programs are now, really, second-rate educational programs.
