I previously blogged about the pending strike and the failure of high school students in the Eagle Point School Districts to protest their educational needs in this era of global change (here). In this blog post, I just want to notice the average teacher costs in that school district (aka Jackson County School District 9) and compare those salary costs to average incomes in the towns of Eagle Point, White City and Shady Cove.
From the final offer by the Eagle Point School District (here):
“This table represents anticipated costs by the third year of the April 4, 2012 final offer:”
From a school district web page (here):
Jackson County School District 9 is a district of 640 square miles in southern Oregon, bordered by the Cascade Mountains to the east and the beautiful Rogue River winding through the northern half of the District. The three largest communities within the boundaries of District 9 are White City, Eagle Point and Shady Cove.
